FAULT DIAGNOSTICS OBDII / EOBD CODE READER
Many functions on modern cars like the PT Cruiser are electronically monitored and should a fault occur it will stored in the car’s computer as a 5 digit code. This very useful tool will read the fault codes applying to the engine, transmission and emissions and tell you whether the fault is permanent or intermittent. Once the fault is fixed, the code reader can be used to erase the code and the engine-check light. Very simple to use, just plug it into the diagnostic socket, inside the PT near the accelerator pedal, and switch on the ignition. If there is, or has been, a fault it will be shown on the large display. For example, I removed the lead between the coil and spark plug No.1 on my PT Cruiser. The reader displayed “Ignition coil secondary circuit A malfunction” (A being the No. 1 cylinder.) Ideal for the diy PT owner, and it can also be used to check almost any make of modern car. It won’t become outdated either, as it is also CAN compliant - a new diagnostic system that will be compulsory for all vehicle diagnostics from 2008. Package contents: GCR10 Code Reader with plug in lead, User manual, Battery Soft carry case, PC cable for updating software. For all PT Cruisers 2000 up - petrol and diesel.
